Holy Dirt Balls, Batman—Are Those Gardeners Wearing Hard Hats?

The Bainbridge Prepares Food Resilience Team's Veg Club hosted a tour of the Olympic Organics composting facility in Kingston on March 19. Hard hatted for safety, the soil tourists asked questions of the facility staf for one and a half hours.

Olympic Organics partners with Town & Country, turning green waste from Bainbridge and Poulsbo T&Cs into soil amendment to grow more food locally.

Veg Cliub Co-Lead Carol Appenzeller says, “Making healthy commercial compost requires a lot of skill and diligence. It's also a powerful tool for community resilience.”

The facility is managed by DTG, which recycles construction, demolition, industrial, and manufacturing waste in the Pacific Northwest. DTG is also the Lumen Field recycling partner.
