Bainbridge Winter (Stay off the Roads) Wonderland
After yesterday's snowstorm, the City of Bainbridge Island is encouraging people to stay off the roads if possible. The reason is that most roads still combine compact snow and ice.As of this morning, December 27, all priority-one roads have been plowed and are being salted, and hills and intersections have been sanded. Priority-one roads are the main arterials like Miller, Sunrise, Madison, Blakely, Sportsman Club, etc. All priority-one roads are now passable.The City is now working on priority-two roads. The plan is for the City to continue its work on priority-two roads until the temperature rises, allowing the deicer to work on the priority-one roads. - Agate Pass Road is currently closed at Mariner Ave. due to a downed tree and power lines.
- City offices are closed because of the weather.
- The Senior Community Center opened at 8 a.m. as a warming shelter.
