Prepare in a Year 2024: In March Ready a Water Supply

You can prepare your household for emergencies in one year by taking a few small steps each month.

Join the Prepare in a Year 24 movement to get ready AND enter monthly drawings to win prizes.

The task for March is to create a water supply. This task involves storing an emergency water supply, protecting your existing water supply, gathering water treatment methods, and identifying backup water sources. Read more about water supplies here.

Follow these steps:

  1. Make sure everyone in your home knows how to shut off the main water valve.

  2. Make a list of all the water sources around your home (include toilet tanks, hot water heaters, rain barrels, and ponds).

  3. Keep water treatment supplies on hand. Read more here.

  4. Store a minimum of one gallon of water per person for three weeks (include pets). Our partner Bay Hay and Feed carries our recommended water storage tanks and water treatment product.

That’s it! When you’re done, complete the submission form.

The prize for March is a LifeStraw Peak Series Personal Water Filter.

Want the chance to win more prizes? Keep track of your monthly prep activities using the Prepare in a Year 24 Passport. If you complete at least 10 of the 12 activities, you’ll be entered to win the Grand Prize.
