New Board Members

Remember when we introduced our board in an article back in February? Well, since then we’ve expanded the board further, adding six more people.

In February, we introduced you to Scott James, our Chair; Susan James, Vice Chair; Roger Coulter, Treasurer; Matt Kress, Secretary; Devin James; Michael Kleeman; Joanne Maher; Laura Samant; and Alex Stanyon.

Now meet the “new” faces that have expanded the team:

Rajlaxmi Bais

Raj, who is the Team Lead for our Medical Reserve Corps, is a Nurse Practitioner and Clinical Specialist at the University of Washington Medical Center.

Victor Cheng

Victor, our Community Emergency Response Team Lead, is also a CEO advisor, investor, and author. He writes up excellent and thorough disaster assessments to educate our team of volunteers.

Rafael Escandon

Rafa is lead for our BIGWEELS Team. He is also a physiologist; certified healthcare ethics consultant; and a Data and Safety Monitoring Committee Eehicist and public health practitioner. He also serves on the City of Bainbridge Island Ethics Board.

Maradel Gale

Maradel, a volunteer at the City’s Emergency Operations Center, is an Associate Professor Emerita at the University of Oregon. She’s also a board member for the Bainbridge Island Land Trust and for Sustainable Bainbridge.

Alice Ostdiek

In addition to leading our Disaster Hubs team, Alice is an attorney specializing in counsel for governmental, infrastructure, and cultural institutions at Stradling Law.

Nancy Plant

Nancy Plant is an attorney currently working to help nonprofits with formation and governance issues, and she is a grant writer.
