Changes to City’s Nixle Updates

Man's hand holding phone showing Nixle alert

The City of Bainbridge Island’s emergency and news alert system, Everbridge Nixle, went through a change at the end of October. The City had been using Nixle to let people know about major events and scheduled road work as well as emergencies. But now Nixle emergency text alerts will be focused exclusively on emergencies, including life, property, and road safety alerts.

To let people know about scheduled road work and events, the City will now send out traffic notifications via email. (But if there’s an accident on 305, for example, you’ll get a Nixle alert.) To get those City email notifications and to customize your email notification list, visit bainbridgewa.gov/List.aspx#.

If you don’t have Nixle yet, text 98110 to 888777 and register at local.nixle.com/register/. You can also get Nixle notifications via email. Send a text message with the word "email" to 888777 to first verify if an email is registered to your phone number. After receiving a response, reply with an email address.
