October: Earthquake Safety

What you do in an earthquake depends partly on where you are when it happens and what your specific circumstances are. But, in general, the advice is the same: Protect yourself—especially your head and internal organs—from falling and flying objects by dropping, covering, and holding on. And secure objects that might fall.

Activity

  1. Use straps to secure furniture and appliances that might fall in an earthquake. Read more here.

  2. If you live in a house, make sure it is bolted to the foundation.

  3. With your household members, practice dropping, covering and holding on.

You may submit your documentation at any time up until the end of the first Friday of the following month. You may submit early for ensuing months. Remember to stamp your passport for each completed month.
