See This Award-Winning Film and Raise Money to Fight TB

Bending the Arc tells the story of the founding of Partners in Health (PIH) and its successful Community Health Worker program. The award-winning film is being hosted at Lynwood Theatre by the Bainbridge Youth Partners in Health Team. Their goal is to raise money for tuberculosis prevention and detection.

Jim Yong Kim, Paul Farmer, and Ophelia Dahl changed the course of the health equity movement when, in the 1980s in Haiti, Peru, and then Rwanda, they treated patients with HIV/AIDS and MDR-TB in rural settings that lacked access to health care. In so doing, they developed a revolutionary model of training community members as health workers so as to treat all people with world-class medicine.

The film is being shown Saturday, February 1, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Historic Lynwood Theatre, 4569 Lynwood Center Rd. NE.

Tickets are $20, but students pay $5. Your $20 donation will cover the cost of a lab test to diagnose TB, and $5 will cover the cost of an X-ray screening.
