BP Helps Tune in the Community at National Night Out

BP volunteers worked booths at this year’s National Night Out (NNO) to help inform the community about emergency preparedness and response. NNO is an annual informative gathering to emphasize safety and community. The Bainbridge event was hosted by the City of Bainbridge Island and the Bainbridge Island Police Department on Tuesday, August 1, at Town Square near City Hall.

Kari Murphy, Co-Lead of the Child Safety & Reunification Team, was happy to see the large number of attendees seeking information. She said, “So many parents responded to our handouts by mentioning that they were unaware that they needed to have a plan. Fingers crossed we’ll have many families better prepared for a disaster after NNO.”

Loren Bast, Executive Director of Bainbridge Prepares, was also pleased with the turnout, noting the mix of both long-time residents and those new to the island. He also commented on the wide organizational presence working the informational booths: “The many local organizations that were at the event really showcased how well Bainbridge has built up community and governmental partnerships.”

Partnership is at the heart of BP’s work, which is a collaboration among our 700 volunteers, the City of Bainbridge Island, and the Bainbridge Island Fire Department.
