For Thanksgiving, Add a Little Prep to Your Potatoes

One thing we have to be thankful for is that we live in a community that is actively preparing for emergencies. In fact, Bainbridge Prepares with its partners, the City and the Fire Department, was just named the national Emergency Management Voluntary Organization of the Year by the International Association of Emergency Managers. That's a huge honor but, most important, it reflects the way our community and the more than 670 BP volunteers came together during COVID to take care of one another and make sure Kitsap County residents got vaccines and tests.So for Thanksgiving this year, take a moment to feel grateful for living in a community that operates out of a lens of love, not fear, to face the reality of climate change–related and other types of disasters, including wildfire, earthquakes, tsunamis, and wind storms. And, while you're at it, why not take yet another step toward being prepared?Here are some potential emergency preparedness actions to take this year on or around T-Day:

• Get your own family ready by making sure you have at least two weeks of water and food for everyone in your household, including pets. Read more here.
