9/11 Memorial "Deep Breath" Fundraiser for Bainbridge Prepares
Melissa Anne, a first responder on 9/11, commemorates the day every year with an act of service. This year, she is leading a deep breath and relaxation—Yoga Nidra—memorial at Dayaalu to raise money for Bainbridge Prepares.Melissa Anne is a certified yoga teacher with 200-hours of Integral Yoga Hatha teacher training and additional studies in neuroscience, Pranayama, Yoga Nidra, and Vastu. She is also a trained trauma release exercise (TRE) facilitator, and she worked for 15 years in disaster management.Yoga Nidra is a healing and meditative practice that can generate inner peace, boost the immune system, lower blood pressure, decrease pain, improve memory and concentration, and relieve anxiety and depression. Melissa Anne will lead in-studio participants and others via Zoom in gentle seated or lying down Yoga Nidra as well as Pranayama, or breath practice. No previous yoga experience is needed.In-person space is limited so early registration is recommended. Register here. The on-site event will be held indoors at the Dayaalu Center, located at 159 Wyatt Way NE on Bainbridge Island. Masks are optional for all in-person classes and programs at Dayaalu.The sliding scale cost is from $15 to $35, but Bainbridge Prepares volunteers and first responders attend free. All proceeds go to Bainbridge Prepares.
