BI City Council Strongly Urges Face Mask Use
Resolution No. 2020-12 takes a strong stand on face mask use on Bainbridge Island to slow the spread of COVID-19. The resolution stops short of requiring face mask use, and it applies only to areas adjacent to Winslow Way, between the ferry terminal and Grow Avenue. The Council passed the resolution last week. The City is also disseminating an image demonstrating the proper use of face masks: Don't wear them too loosely, and make sure they cover nose and chin. The Council is considering further resolutions that would make mask wearing mandatory, that would make masks available to the public, and that would provide outreach about the benefits of mask wearing. The CDC has issued this recommendation regarding face mask use:
Everyone should wear a cloth face cover when they have to go out in public, for example to the grocery store or to pick up other necessities.

Cloth face coverings should not be placed on young children under age 2, anyone who has trouble breathing, or is unconscious, incapacitated or otherwise unable to remove the mask without assistance.
