Bainbridge Prepares is an award-winning emergency preparedness organization serving the community of Bainbridge Island, Washington. In partnership with the City of Bainbridge Island and the Bainbridge Island Fire Department, BP works to educate citizens about how to prepare their households, neighborhoods, and businesses for disaster.
When an emergency strikes, BP responds in key ways to help community members survive and recover, including by staffing our disaster hubs, severe weather shelters, and disaster medical center.
BP promotes a bottom-up approach to preparedness:
Prepare yourself and your household:
Sign up for Nixle notifications sent by our police, fire, and city to advise subscribers of emergencies. Text your zip code to 888777 to enroll for free.
Look up your wildfire evacuation zone and find your closest Disaster Hub.
Gather emergency supplies.
Participate in Prepare in a Year 25, which will help you prepare your household month by month.
Get trained: Sign up for one of our classes, like Stop the Bleed.
Prepare your neighborhood: With your neighbors, sign up for the Map Your Neighborhood Program. More than half the households on Bainbridge are already involved.
Our many volunteer teams offer education and response in critical areas including medical, food, water, sanitation, shelter, communications, domestic animal care, child safety and reunification, and technological support. Want to join us? Click here.
