The Ready Congregations Team is focused on working with faith based communities here on Bainbridge Island, to strategize about how to engage their membership and their communities in emergency preparedness. These communities often extend past our island’s boundaries.
Our work includes developing and implementing congregational emergency management plans, faith based community phone trees, offering classes on how to mitigate and prepare, and encouraging congregants to participate in the Map Your Neighborhood program in their neighborhoods.
Currently, the research and strategy has been concentrated and implemented within one congregation, and we are looking to expand our team. The team welcomes input and engagement from other congregations and faith based communities, and we look forward to sharing our work, along with learning from others and their approach to emergency preparedness, and acute situations that may impact their communities.
If you may be interested in meeting to learn more, to strategize, or how to engage your own congregation and community in these efforts, please contact Team Leads Leslie Marshall and Laura Dwelley Samant.
