Webinar Shows You How to Reduce Your Home Energy Use

The City of Bainbridge Island and Puget Sound Energy are hosting a webinar May 11 to share ways to reduce home energy use. These include a new energy-efficiency program for Bainbridge Island customers called Peak Energy Rewards.

The program uses smart technology to address our community’s electric capacity needs. You can join simply by enrolling your smart thermostat. If you don’t already have one, you can get one installed through the program with a rebate to help cover costs. Participants in the program receive $75 annually and are eligible for higher rebates on heating equipment, weatherization, and more.

In November 2020, the City Council approved the Bainbridge Island Climate Action Plan (CAP), created by the Climate Change Advisory Committee working with City staff, community stakeholders, and the public. The goal of CAP is to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 90 percent by 2045 compared to 2014 levels, prepare the Island for the impacts of climate change, and "inspire community action and partner with local and regional organizations to take meaningful and equitable climate change mitigation and adaptation actions."

The webinar runs from 5 to 6 p.m. Register here for the Zoom webinar.
