Vegetable Gardens Create Resilience: Veg Club Starts Its 2023 Season

Are you ready to start a vegetable garden for the first time? Do you want to know how to make your garden yield more? When it comes to preparedness, having a vegetable garden is a great way to “beef up” your emergency food supplies. But don’t be intimidated by the challenge. Veg Club is here to help.

Veg Club is an educational series that covers everything from beginner basics to specialized local resources and techniques for experienced growers. The February 7th session will cover how to choose the best site and bed type and how to have a garden even if you have no space. You’ll also get Northwest-adapted seed sources; precise, region-specific planting calendars; and info. on local compost sources. 

Join us via Zoom on Tuesday, February 7, from 6:30 to 8 pm, and on the first Tuesday of every month unless otherwise noted. Here is the 2023 schedule:

  • July: Pickle & Jam Your Harvest (Field Trip)
  • August: Grow Fruit in a Small or Large Yard (Field Trip) 
  • September: Store Your Harvest in the Garden, Garage, and Pantry 
  • October: Naturally Ferment Kraut & Pickles & Make Your Own Compost
